BB2020 is the 100th anniversary project by the AIV of the so called »greater Berlin« which was established in 1920. 

The Anniversary includes an international urban design competition and the presentation of its results in an exhibition. For communication purposes and to raise awareness of investors a bold identity with a versatile typographic system was developed. The logo displaying the past and highlighting the year of the actual event to set the course for the future forms the foundation of the identity. A vibrant red-orange, an exaggerated version of the berlin ci’s red, is used as primary color and especially in combination with black used in the competition context. For display applications the logo was animated including an in parts animated typeface to convey the transforming and shape shifting idea of the anniversary and its competition.
